The area south of Hyde Park in known as South Kensington and Knightsbridge. Located here are most of the world's embassies and consulates, and a collection of the world's finest museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum (one of the grandest buildings in London) and the Science Museum.
All this, plus the close proximity to the Royal Palace of Kensington which is still a royal residence has given the area and upmarket status. The shops also reflect this standard, the most famous being Harrods.
South Kensington is best visited from the tube station of the same name. |
