Russell Hotel Description

This imposing terracotta building features intricate Renaissance architecture. A range of room types caters for the different needs of guests, ensuring that marble-clad lobby buzzes with business and leisure travellers from all over the world. The hotel interior retains many of its original features, including Sicilian marble columns, high vaulted ceilings, huge chandeliers, oak panelling and the grand marble staircase. A modern contrast is provided by full-service business centre and the conference rooms, which feature retractable ceiling mounted projectors. The building was founded in 1898 by the famous architect Fitzroy Doll, who also worked on the grand facilities of the Titanic. This hotel has 373 guestrooms in various styles. All have Internet access, TV, and Sony Playstation. Fitzroys Doll's Restaurant - This grand dining room, almost identical to the one on the Titanic, seats 120 and features the original Sicilian marble columns and chandeliers. Serves buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. King's Bar - Leather armchairs and Chesterfield sofas give this popular bar the feel of a Victorian gentlemen's club. Once patronised by Virginia Wolfe it continues to attract local celebrities. Serves drinks and light snacks throughout the day.
