Piccadilly
Circus is a busy junction of 5 major streets,
surrounded by illuminated billboards, creating
London's version of Times Square. At its centre
is the famous bronze fountain topped by the statue
of Eros. Emanating from the Circus is Piccadilly
itself with its smart hotels and shops, including
the elegant Fortnum & Mason department store, Hatchard’s (London’s oldest bookshop), The Ritz Hotel and The Royal Academy.
Soho, Chinatown, Trafalgar Square and Shaftesbury Avenue with its many famous theatres, are all within walking distance. The largest road leading from Piccadilly is the graceful Regent Street, home to Hamley’s, the world’s largest toy shop and the startling Liberty department store which promotes the designs of the Arts and Crafts movement.
